Bangor is the hometown of Hannibal_Hamlin, who served as Abraham_Lincoln's vice president, and of William_Cohen, U.S. Senator and Secretary of Defense under Bill Clinton. Also residing there is Stephen_King, the prolific and internationally popular author best known for his horror-themed stories, novels, and movies. His wife Tabitha Spruce-King, is also a well known writer and lives with him. They donate a tremendous amount of money to local libraries and have created a baseball field in their backyard for the city to use.
