Trempealeau County

is a county located in the State of Wisconsin. As of 2000, the population is 27,010. Its county_seat is Whitehall6.

Geography

According to the U.S._Census_Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,922 km² (742 mi²). 1,901 km² (734 mi²) of it is land and 20 km² (8 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.06% water.

Demographics

As of the White, 0.13% Black or African American, 0.17% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 0.47% from two or more races. 0.89% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 10,747 households out of which 31.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.20% are married couples living together, 7.40% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.60% are non-families. 27.60% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.50% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 3.00. In the county, the population is spread out with 25.30% under the age of 18, 6.90% from 18 to 24, 28.20% from 25 to 44, 23.10% from 45 to 64, and 16.40% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 100.30 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.80 males.
